Painstation was a group piece by myself and 3 fellow students for a Level Design module. We were to take a train station, initially only creating the environment, making it a fairly realistic recreation. We chose to do a small, country train station in the middle of nowhere, as it came across slightly more foreboding and lonely that a city based one. The next stage of the assignment was to give the station "life." For this we have added several scripted sequences involving different NPC's including, a zombie performing Valve's classic "slumprise" animation, a few resistance members attackin a pack of zombie's in the rail area and among other things soundscapes for music and speech.
The map was mostly designed and textured by Lewis Morgan. I created and populated some of the smaller areas such including the toilets, which are fully furnished and contain scripted sequences as well as the ticket office pictured below and the eating area. There are working vending machines inside the station itself along with a surprise event while crossing the bridge, this can be seen in the Video section of the site. Watch out for the train!
